**Overview of the Situation**

Update: July 07, 2026

**DUBAI:** Continuous torrential rains battering Mumbai for the third consecutive day have severely disrupted air travel, leading to significant delays and cancellations for flights operating between the UAE and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).
With severe waterlogging reported across various parts of Mumbai, ground transportation has also slowed to a crawl, creating double trouble for commuters and air travelers alike.

 **Impact on UAE–Mumbai Flight Operations**

Flight schedules between major UAE airports (including Dubai International) and Mumbai have been hit by domino-effect delays.

 * **Significant Delays:** Inbound and outbound flights, including those operated by **IndiGo** and **SpiceJet** that were scheduled to depart late Monday night, experienced hours of delays. On average, standard flights are facing delays of at least one hour.
 * **Cancellations and Diversions:** Due to low visibility and heavy crosswinds at CSMIA, approximately **17 domestic and international flights have been cancelled**, and more than **five flights were diverted** to nearby airports.

**Airlines Issue Urgent Advisories**

Major carriers operating on this high-traffic route have taken to social media and direct communication channels to alert passengers:
> **IndiGo Statement:** *“With Mumbai experiencing heavy rainfall and subsequent traffic congestion on the roads leading to the airport, we strongly advise passengers to factor in extra travel time and head to the airport much earlier than usual.”*
Other carriers, including **Akasa Air**, **Air India**, and UAE-based airlines, have issued similar alerts.

**Travel Guidelines & Checklist for Passengers**

Given that weather conditions remain unpredictable and further schedule changes are highly likely, passengers traveling the UAE–Mumbai route are urged to follow these steps:
 * **Verify Before You Leave:** Do not leave for the airport without checking the live flight status on your airline's official website or mobile app.
 * **Monitor Ground Traffic:** Account for heavily waterlogged roads and severe traffic snarls in Mumbai. If you are catching a flight *from* Mumbai, utilize the local metro lines where possible, as road transport is highly compromised.
 * **Keep Contact Details Updated:** Ensure your correct phone number and email address are linked to your flight booking so you can receive real-time SMS/email alerts from the airline.
 * **Reach Out to Customer Care:** For rebooking options or compensation queries regarding cancelled flights, contact your respective airline helpdesk immediately.
