School fees in Black Board

The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) does not allow schools in the emirate to expel students, prevent them from taking exams and deprive them of their right to education due to delay in tuition fees payment by parents because of the financial limitations raised by the Covid-19 pandemic. SPEA’s Director Ali Al Hosani stated that schools must comply with all procedures and guidelines and should be flexible in accepting tuition school fees payment.

Circular No. 7 of SPEA for the academic year 2020-21 school is cited by Ali Al Hosani and notices are distributed to all private schools in Sharjah. The notice shows the mechanisms to solve the problem of late payment of tuition. The notice clearly stated that the school authorities should directly contact parents and legal guardians to remind them to pay tuition fees in time. However, students may not be penalized for late payment of tuition fees.

Regulators have proposed different options, such as changing school fees payment rescheduling which is suitable for the school administration, parents and legal guardians. The notice guarantees that private schools have the right to refrain from giving the transfer certificates or report card and re-register students in the next academic year until all outstanding payments have been paid.

The SPEA notice is applicable to the third and last semester of the 2020-21 school year.

Al Hosani reminded the stakeholders about the participatory nature of their relationships and the SPEA’s bid to create a congenial atmosphere to champion the cause of education. He added that a healthy ecosystem helps the dissemination of knowledge to flourish and compliance with the SPEA's directives is the right step in that direction.

Stakeholders has to participate in their relationship and SPEA's commitment to creating a friendly advocacy atmosphere for education sector. Having a healthy ecosystem can promote knowledge sharing, and following the SPEA guidelines is the right step in this direction.
