The latest changes regarding entry into Abu Dhabi for people within UAE is declared following the number of Covid-19 cases increasing gradually this month.

With the number of Covid-19 cases within the country touching a record high of 3,432 on Saturday, Abu Dhabi has once more tightened norms for getting into the emirate.

From Sunday Jan 17,2021 tight measures which was followed until the last week of Dec is again going to be enforced in the emirate, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee for the Covid-19 Pandemic stated on Saturday. however there's reprieve in travel restrictions for those who has vaccinated two doses or volunteers of the phase 3 clinical trials.

This latest announcement was made following the Covid-19 cases increasing systematically this month and remaining above 3,200 for the past four days. Taking preventative measures, from Sunday, an individual has to enter the emirate of Abu Dhabi within forty eight hours of receiving a negative PCR or DPI test result instead of seventy two hours, that was in effect from Dec 24. 

Also, an individual has to take mandatory PCR tests on day four of entry for those staying for four days or more, and on day eight of entry for those staying for eight days or more. The day of entry into Abu Dhabi is counted as day one. Since Dec 24, a person getting into Abu Dhabi had to require only 1 further PCR test on the sixth day. 

The procedures apply to all or any residents and citizens of UAE, as well as Abu Dhabi residents, aside from those vaccinated as a part of national vaccination programmes and volunteers of the phase three Clinical Trials who have status updated (letter ‘E’ or gold star) on their Al Hosn app. As per the latest information, around 250,000 individuals have received the second dose until January 10,2021.

Meanwhile, the committee has urged community members to continue their cooperation and commitment to follow preventive and safety measures. Those who fail to follow the procedures are responsible for fines.
