Resident Expatriates from India can now add the UAE address to their Indian passports.

Indian expatriates in the UAE, and those across the globe, have been given the choice to add their foreign addresses where they are staying to their Indian passports, said Siddhartha Kumar Baraily, Consul- passport and attestation at the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

How to add UAE address to Indian passports

The adding of UAE address on Indian passport for those who wish however must apply for a new passport through BLS service. Indian passport holders have to make an application for a new passport in which the change in address can be done.

“This has been in place for about a year now. There are many people who have already been applying for it. Everyday, I receive at least 11-12 applications from people who want their UAE address on their passport,” said Baraily.

Applicants can be both self-owned and rental addresses and can choose to add only one of the two addresses. “In the passport application, they need to provide both addresses. There is an option that asks for which address they want published in the passport,” he explained.

The documents accepted as proof of address by Consul and BLS service for updating change in address are following.

  • DEWA Bills
  • FEWA Bills
  • SEWA bills
  • Rental agreement
  • Title deed
  • Copies of telephone bills
Mr. Baraily confirmed that the above documents will be accepted as proof of address in the UAE updating change in address.
