Residents will now able to make pre-booked appointments to do the Dh50 laser-based Covid-19 test at the new testing facility center at the Dubai-Abu Dhabi border at Ghantoot, the Abu Dhabi Emergency Crisis and Disasters Committee has announced.

The laser based test which gives results in five minutes has high demand and rush occured at the facility. Thus appointment pre-booking system has been introduced by the authorities.

The testing facility tent is located just before the Ghantoot border checkpoint near the main highway. Anybody who need to enter Abu Dhabi has to show a negative Covid-19 test result, and the PCR test that is available at other health centres costs Dh370. The new laser-based testing announcement was by authorities last week to make the travel easier between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Abdullah A Rashdi, spokesperson for Tamouh Healthcare, an Abu Dhabi government-run medical company, had told Khaleej Times that a new tent is being built to provide services for the high number of individuals using the service.

Travellers with a negative COVID-19 test (PCR) result will continue to be allowed to enter the emirate within 48 hours from receiving the result.

The new tent will exclusively available to families and we hope it will be ready by tomorrow. Then the existing tent can receive other residents who want to take the test," stated Al Rashdi on Wednesday.
