Sharjah Police made the announcement of a 50 percent discount on traffic fines issued in the emirate. The move is based on the decision taken by the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), and with regards to the UAE’s 49th National Day.

According to Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, the discount scheme will come into effect on December 2, 2020, and will continue for a period of 49 days. Al Shamsi also stated that the police department has started all steps to implement the decision on time.

The police dept. indicated that the decision includes all traffic violations committed before Dec.1, 2020, with the exception of the major violations.

The decision also includes the cancellation of vehicle impoundment and traffic black points.

The police have also urged that motorists must abide by the laws and regulations, keeping in mind that such fines increase financial burden on individuals. The Sharjah police department also said that repetition of such fines would draw severe punishment.

Al Shamsi also affirmed the Sharjah Police’s keenness to support all the steps taken by the Sharjah government to provide all services to residents, based on the comprehensive vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the vision of Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, focusing on alleviating the financial burdens on community members, and providing them with the opportunity to settle down their legal situation.
